Making My Home More Beautiful With Flowers

One day after I got home from a business meeting, I realized that my home needed a little more visual appeal. Instead of filling my home with loads of boring knick-knacks, I decided to invest in natural flowers and beautiful floral arrangements. I worked with a local florist to provide me with local, seasonal flowers, and it was incredible. My home smelled better and felt like it was alive, instead of looking boring. I wanted to make a blog dedicated to people who want to infuse their homes with a few great floral arrangements. Read more here about how to choose a florist and the right flowers.

Showing Your Condolences: 3 Tips for Sending Memorable Sympathy Flowers

Getting over a loss is difficult. If you know someone going through a loss, sending sympathy flowers is a good way of expressing your condolences and reaching out to them to let them know that they're not alone. Flowers have been shown to improve the emotional health of recipients. If you want the bouquet of sympathy flowers you send to stand out from the crowd, consider implementing the following three tips.

Choose Floral Arrangements with Fillers

Don't go for just one flower. Instead, choose several focal flowers that will be the center of the show. Roses, lilies, and carnations are particularly popular. You then want to choose some fillers to include in the arrangement. The fillers should preferably contrast the color of the focal flowers. Green fillers are usually your best choice. You should choose green fillers with small flowers that will not take attention away from the focal flowers. Rich greens like oregonia and salal are common favorites, as they are usually readily available in flower shops.

Have the Bouquet Arranged in a Certain Shape

The florist can also make an artistic statement by arranging the focal flowers in a shape. They can arrange the focal flowers in the shape of a smiley face, a heart, a diamond, and more. The fillers can then be used to add dimension and depth to the bouquet. If you're sending a relatively large floral bouquet, some florists can even arrange them into a three-dimensional shape. These bouquets look more like decorations than anything.

Include a Handwritten Letter

Instead of having a standard pre-written card included with the floral arrangement, you should highly consider dropping off a personalized, handwritten letter to be included with the flower delivery. If you don't have time to pick up a card, you can usually find one at the flower shop. Even a handwritten note in a simple, plain blank card can go a long way in showing your sincerity in regard to their loss. You can even include a box of chocolates to further express your condolences.

Sympathy flowers can go a long way in cheering someone up who has lost a loved one. The flowers are a standing reminder to them that you have their back and that they can talk to you any time they need to. The visual appeal and fragrance of the flowers will also do wonders in improving the mood of their home and their emotional health as well.
