Making My Home More Beautiful With Flowers

One day after I got home from a business meeting, I realized that my home needed a little more visual appeal. Instead of filling my home with loads of boring knick-knacks, I decided to invest in natural flowers and beautiful floral arrangements. I worked with a local florist to provide me with local, seasonal flowers, and it was incredible. My home smelled better and felt like it was alive, instead of looking boring. I wanted to make a blog dedicated to people who want to infuse their homes with a few great floral arrangements. Read more here about how to choose a florist and the right flowers.

Saying It with Meaning: Flower Color Choices to Add Meaning to Your Gift

Flowers are a great gift for just about any occasion. Whether you want to make up with someone, send get-well flowers, or say "I love you," the type of flower that you choose can make a big difference. When considering color, you could choose a color that symbolizes love, friendship, hope, or even sympathy. Color can play an important role in the flowers you send, making the flowers just a little more special.

Red Roses for Love

Red roses symbolize love in a number of ways. The first obvious way is in the color. Red is the traditional color of love, and it is used to symbolize true love. Roses are also symbolic  of romantic love, as like love they are not perfect. While beautiful, roses also have thorns. This is a reminder that true love is full of beauty but comes with a little bit of pain.

Yellow for Friendship

Yellow is known as the color of friendship. If you send a bouquet of yellow flowers to someone, you are sending the message that you want to cheer them up and that you value their friendship. Yellow is the color of happiness, and you can send yellow roses to almost anyone without confusion as to whether this is a romantic gesture or not.

Blue and Purple for Relaxation

If you want to send a message of serenity or calmness to a loved one, a bouquet of blue and purple flowers is perfect. Both colors promote a sense of calm and can be found in a variety of beautiful blossoms. Lilacs, hydrangeas, and calla lilies are all great choices when you want to send a relaxing bouquet.

Orange for Celebration

Orange is a bright, bold color, making it perfect when you want to celebrate a friend or loved one. Bright orange flowers show that you are happy for the person receiving them. Sending an orange-themed bouquet makes a big statement. When you are proud of a friend, send them a bright bouquet.

White for Formal Events

White flowers are a symbol of purity, and that is why they are often used in bridal bouquets. White is also used for christenings and funerals, where tradition calls for subtlety. For bridal bouquets, there are a wide variety of white flowers from which a gorgeous and unique arrangement can be made.

Flowers are a great way to show someone you love that you care.
